ASCAP songwriter and disco legend Donna Summer passed away on May 17, 2012. ASCAP remembers her essential dance floor hits as well as her impact and legacy on the world of music.

ASCAP welcomed songwriter-artist Jerrod Niemann to the family on Monday, May 14th, 2012, when he stopped by the Nashville office to join ASCAP as a writer member.

Award-winning ASCAP members Dave Berg and Alonzo "Zo" Lee performed songs they wrote with St. Louis students at the event, which benefited America SCORES St. Louis. ASCAP's Sue Devine was honored with the organization's Legacy Award.

ASCAP composers and songwriters soundtracked 16 out of 20 musical works nominated for the 39th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. The nominees include six-time Emmy winners Jack Allocco and David Kurtz, who received four nods for their music to The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless.

You've gotta see this: during their insightful Master Session at the ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO, Philip Lawrence and Bruno Mars of The Smeezingtons treated the audience to a completely off-the-cuff musical theater song, later dubbed "One Day (Rolex)," with Lawrence on vocals and Mars at the piano. A true "only at the EXPO" moment!

The 7th Annual ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO has now come to a close and it was incredible experience for everyone there. If you couldn't make it to Los Angeles, you can now purchase access to all of the panels, which is nearly 60 hours of content!

ASCAP member Adam "MCA" Yauch, a founding member of legendary hip-hop trio The Beastie Boys and director of many of their most beloved music videos, has passed away. Yauch helped bring hip-hop to a worldwide audience, and his pioneering filmmaking was every bit as creative as his music.

The nominations are in for the 2012 Tony Awards, and ASCAP members can be found in almost every music-related category. Leading the pack is movie-turned-musical Once followed closely by Nice Work If You Can Get It and Porgy and Bess, among a number of other spectacular shows from the 2011-2012 season.

Texans are known for their music and state pride, both of which can be heard in the time-honored tradition of the Texas dance hall. ASCAP's Ryan Beuschel follows country star Billy Currington to the Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio to explore this popular sub-culture.

London hosted its first Sundance Film and Music Festival this past weekend featuring a Music Cafe produced by the ASCAP London offices. The four-day festival included film screenings and performances all held at the famous O2.
